The COCHLEA research team consists of researchers of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the University Hospital Zurich and of the Instutitute of Fluiddynamics of ETH Zurich.

This interdisciplinary group aims for further insight into the processes of hearing in the cochlea and the influences of fluiddynamics: In the inner ear, many from a phenomenological point of view known and described processes have not yet been explained. Little attention has been paid in particular on the interaction between auditory mechanics, electrochemical, and cellular processes on the one hand, and fluiddynamical effects on the other hand. Here our cooperation strives to contribute to an answer of the question "How does hearing work?".
